Tambay! (Hang Out!). The Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom (FNF) Philippines has created video podcast episodes under this title. Guests from different sectors of society are invited to talk about the country’s pressing issues. The Vodcast is aimed at young people who are not yet necessarily active in the civic space but are interested in political and societal issues due to the recent polarizing national elections as well as the changes brought about by global events. The goal is to sustain the interest of the young in political affairs by meeting them where their interests lie: visual formats and casual conversations.
The first episode is about accountability in the context of human rights violations. Assigning accountability in the case of human rights violations is necessary enforce those human rights. In a state governed by the rule of law, all state systems and their institutions should be held accountable. Therefore, the first episode deals with how young people in the Philippines choose and hold leaders accountable in their personal, professional, and political lives. This episode was recorded alongside the 2022 nationwide elections. The second episode provides young people from different sectors with the opportunity to express how they can pivot and take action despite facing challenges relating to their personal experiences and the results of the national elections.
The vodcast series is an avenue for young people to come together in one place to discuss and share insights on how to amplify social issues and initiate conversation on things that matter to them.
