In August 2025, the Human Rights Academy, together with FNF Türkiye and the FNF Human Rights Hub, organized the 5th International Summer School on “Security and Human Rights: Rethinking Priorities in the Age of Uncertainty” in Mardin, Türkiye. This flagship program brought together over 20 young participants from 16 countries, selected from more than 700 applicants worldwide, to critically explore the intersections of human rights and security in today’s volatile context.
The summer school combined lectures, interactive workshops, and cultural activities to provide participants with both theoretical insights and practical tools. Distinguished speakers from international organizations, academia, civil society, and politics addressed topics ranging from migration governance and humanitarian law to technology, environmental security, and the role of narratives in shaping public perceptions of fear.
