Forum on the Sixth Anniversary
On 24 May 2025, the sixth anniversary of Taiwan's historic legalization of same-sex marriage was hosted. FNF Taiwan hosted this forum with its partner, Taiwan Equality Campaign.
The Forum aimed to identify what still needs to be done even after same-sex marriage has been legalized, successful experiences worth passing on, and ways to expand the coalition for LGBTIQ+ rights. The takeaways from the forum included the following:
- More LGBTIQ+ individuals and allies should be encouraged to participate in politics, as this remains an effective way to advance LGBTIQ+ rights throughout society.
- Strong advocacy requires solid data, research, and evidence; therefore, advocates need more training and knowledge on data.
- Business and human rights do not necessarily conflict with each other. Experience has shown us that there is indeed common ground to be found, and the key is to find the right incentive.
In addition to panels, the Forum included a workshop where participants brainstormed an action plan. Many participants came up with creative solutions to address existing discrimination against LGBTIQ+ groups.
