Women Revive

Ukraine

Training and Workshop Series

Conducted in cooperation with the partner and non-governmental organization (NGO) Kremenchuk Anti-Corruption Centre between March and October 2025, the project Women Revive Ukraine supports women from small towns and rural communities in central Ukraine, particularly in the regions of Poltava, Kirovohrad, and Cherkasy. Many of these women are local officials, councilors, activists, and volunteers who took on extra responsibilities in their communities as many men joined the military. They became the ones keeping local life running coordinating aid, managing community initiatives, and ensuring that essential services continue to work.

Although their role in community life has grown, women still face barriers to participation in politics and decision-making. The project aims to help them gain confidence, practical knowledge, and mutual support, building a network of women who learn from and empower one another.

The trainings focused on transparency and accountability in local governance, cooperation between local authorities and NGOs, advocacy, media literacy, and the use of digital and AI tools for civic participation. Participants also discussed leadership strategies and how to prepare for future engagement in political life once Ukraine’s political process resumes after the war. Mentorship and “living library” sessions with women leaders provided inspiration and role models from different walks of life.

The final Forum in October 2025 brought together participants and experts for two days of discussions and reflection. It also featured the first presentation of the qualitative sociological study on women’s political participation at the local and national levels.

By helping women from smaller communities to connect, learn and grow as leaders, Women Revive Ukraine strengthens not only individual confidence but also the resilience of local democracy in Ukraine.
